Troubleshooting – Complete Guide

This guide includes the most common troubleshooting steps for Dharma Dr Tabs, including connection issues, resets, and charging problems.

Factory Reset Instructions

Category: Troubleshooting → Common Issues

What This Covers:

  • When to use factory reset
  • Step-by-step reset instructions
  • How to identify reset mode using the LED lights

When Should You Use a Factory Reset?

  • If your tabs are not responding to the app or pairing steps
  • If one or both tabs are out of sync with each other
  • If you're preparing the device for use by a new client

Reset Instructions

  1. Place both Tabs in the charging case and plug the case into power.
  2. Press and hold the button on each tab for 10–15 seconds.
  3. The LED will start flashing red — this means the tab is in factory reset mode.
  4. Important: You must perform this on both tabs — resetting only one will not fully work.
  5. After both tabs are flashing red, take them out of the case and press the button on the Tab with the ~ symbol on it.
  6. They will pulse white and begin searching for each other, then go solid white when connected together.

LED Behavior Reference

LEDMeaning
Flashing RedFactory reset mode (must be active on both tabs)
Pulsing WhiteTabs searching for each other (post-reset)
Solid WhiteTabs connected to each other and ready to pair

Troubleshooting

  • Only one tab flashes red? Reset the second one — both must be in red mode at the same time.
  • Tabs not connecting after reset? Return them to the case, wait 10 seconds, then remove again to restart pairing.

Tabs Won’t Turn On

Category: Troubleshooting → Common Issues

What This Covers:

  • How to check if your tabs are off or out of battery
  • How to power on your tabs properly
  • What to do if the tabs don’t light up at all

1. Check the Tabs for Power

  • Remove both tabs from the charging case.
  • If no LED turns on at all, the tabs may need to be recharged.
  • Place the tabs in the case and connect the case to power using the provided USB cable.
  • LED on the charging case:
    • Flashing Yellow = Charging (battery under 90%)
    • Solid White = Fully charged
  • Flashing Yellow = Charging (battery under 90%)
  • Solid White = Fully charged

2. Try Powering On Manually

  • Remove the tabs from the case.
  • Press and hold the button on each tab for about 3–5 seconds.
  • You should see a pulsing white LED — this means the tab is powering on and looking for the other tab.

3. Still No Response?

  • Make sure the charging case itself has power — try a different cable or USB outlet.
  • Ensure the tabs are seated properly in the case (you should feel a magnetic snap).
  • If still no lights after 15–20 minutes of charging, contact support for further help.

Tip:

If you’ve recently performed a factory reset or the tab was completely discharged, it may take up to 1–2 minutes of charging before any lights turn on.

Tabs Not Pairing with the App

Category: Troubleshooting → Common Issues

What This Covers:

  • What to check if your tabs won’t connect
  • Steps for automatic pairing
  • Steps for manual Bluetooth pairing
  • LED behavior during pairing

1. Confirm Tabs Are Connected to Each Other

  • Remove both tabs from the charging case.
  • They will pulse white while searching for each other.
  • Once connected to each other, both LEDs will turn solid white.

2. Automatic Pairing Process

  • Open the Dharma Dr. app.
  • Navigate to the Tabs control screen.
  • You should receive a prompt to pair. Confirm it when it appears.
  • The app will display Connected when successful.

3. If Tabs Don’t Pair Automatically

  • Ensure both tabs are fully charged and show solid white LEDs.
  • Make sure Bluetooth and Location permissions are enabled on your phone.
  • Restart the app and keep the tabs close to the phone.

4. Manual Bluetooth Pairing (Fallback)

  • Open your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
  • Forget or delete any saved “Dharma Dr.” devices.
  • Restart the Dharma Dr. app.
  • Press and hold the button on each tab until it blinks blue.
  • Try pairing again from the app.

5. LED Reference During Pairing

LEDMeaning
Pulsing WhiteTabs are searching for each other
Solid WhiteTabs are connected to each other and ready to pair
Blinking BlueManual pairing mode

Troubleshooting Checklist

  • Only one tab connects? Put both tabs back in the case, wait 10 seconds, then try again.
  • Bluetooth already used? Try manual pairing to override the old connection.
  • No lights? Check charging status — see the Battery & Charging article.

Tabs Disconnecting During Use

If your Dharma Dr. tabs are disconnecting during a session, this usually points to a Bluetooth or app-related issue. Here’s how to resolve it and prevent future disruptions.

Common Causes

  • Low battery on one or both tabs
  • Bluetooth interference from other nearby devices
  • App running in the background or phone entering low power mode
  • Outdated app version or system permissions

Step-by-Step Fix

  1. Charge the tabs fully — place them in the case until the light turns off.
  2. Restart your phone before reconnecting in the app.
  3. Disable battery-saving mode on your phone during sessions.
  4. Keep the app open and screen on while using the tabs — don’t minimize it.

Advanced Tips

  • If disconnects continue, try using the “Manual Mode” in the app to reduce reliance on Bluetooth.
  • A factory reset may help if one tab consistently fails to stay connected. View reset instructions.

Tabs Fading White (Won’t Connect)

If your Dharma Dr. tabs are showing a fading white light and not connecting, they are likely stuck in a low-power or pairing state.

What the Fading White Light Means

  • The tab is powered on but not actively paired or assigned a session.
  • It may be waiting to connect, or didn’t exit pairing mode properly.

Quick Fix Steps

  1. Place both tabs back in the charging case and ensure they make contact.
  2. Let them charge for at least 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the tab with the ~ symbol and press/hold its button for 4 seconds, then release.
  4. This will enter Bluetooth pairing mode (flashing blue).
  5. Open the Dharma Dr. app and attempt to pair again.

Still Seeing the Fading Light?

Tip

Always make sure your tabs are charged before starting a session. Avoid leaving them powered on when not in use.

Troubleshooting a Non-Responsive Tab

If one of your Dharma Dr. tabs isn’t responding — no lights, no vibration, or it won’t connect — follow the steps below to bring it back online.

Step 1: Charge It Fully

  • Place both tabs in the charging case and check the LED on the case.
  • If the tab is charging, the case light will blink yellow.
  • Leave it to charge for at least 10 minutes before testing again.

Step 2: Try a Manual Power-On

  • Remove the tab from the case.
  • Press and hold the button on the tab for 4–5 seconds, then release.
  • If you see a light or vibration, it has powered on.

Step 3: Attempt Pairing Mode

  • If the tab shows no response, try entering Bluetooth pairing mode again.
  • Press and hold the button on the ~ tab for 4 seconds, then release.
  • If the LED flashes blue, it’s responsive — open the app to pair.

Still Not Working?

If the tab remains completely unresponsive (no lights, no response after charging):

  • Submit a support ticket and include:
    • Whether the LED turns on at all
    • Whether the other tab is working normally
    • Any steps you’ve already tried
  • Our team will walk you through further steps or assist with a replacement if needed.

Charging Case Not Working

If your Dharma Dr. charging case isn't working or charging the tabs properly, follow the steps below to identify and resolve the issue.

Step 1: Check the LED on the Case

  • The LED is located on the outside of the charging case.
  • Flashing Yellow: Case is charging tabs and they are under 90% battery.
  • No light at all: The case may be out of power or the cable may not be connected properly.

Step 2: Ensure Tabs Are Seated Correctly

  • Open the lid and make sure both tabs are sitting flat and aligned with the magnetic charging contacts.
  • If a tab is crooked or raised, remove and reinsert it firmly.

Step 3: Confirm the Cable and Power Source

  • Use the original USB-C cable included with your Dharma Dr. kit.
  • Try connecting to a different power adapter or USB port.
  • Charging through a low-power source (like a computer port) may not be sufficient.

Step 4: Inspect the Charging Port

  • Check the USB-C port on the case for any dust, damage, or obstruction.
  • Gently clean it with a soft, dry brush or compressed air if needed.

Still Not Working?

If you've tried all of the steps above and the case still won't charge your tabs:

  • Perform a factory reset on the tabs (if they still have power)
  • Submit a support ticket and include:
    • A brief description of the issue
    • Whether any lights are showing
    • A photo or short video, if possible

High-Pitched Squealing from Charging Case

If you hear a high-pitched squealing noise when unplugging your Dharma Dr. charging case, this may indicate a rare issue with the internal power circuit.

What You Need to Know

  • This sound can sometimes occur when the case is unplugged while tabs are still inside.
  • It does not affect the function or safety of the tabs themselves, but the case may need attention.

What to Do

We recommend reaching out directly so we can help:

  • Submit a support ticket and include:
    • A short description of when the sound occurs
    • A brief video or audio clip, if possible (optional but helpful)
  • We'll assess the issue and provide a resolution — including a replacement case if needed.
  • A short description of when the sound occurs
  • A brief video or audio clip, if possible (optional but helpful)

Note

The sound may temporarily stop after unplugging and reinserting the cable, but this is not a guaranteed fix.
